Thank you so much for visiting my website. Whether you were referred by your midwife, doctor, friend or were surfing the internet, I welcome you and offer you my congratulations. I have over 25 years experience working with expectant parents and I am always reading and learning more every day about childbirth preparation from books, the internet, birth experiences, colleagues and my students. Sharing this exciting time with expectant parents is my passion and one that I know I will continue to enjoy for “many births” to come.
With a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, I was working as an educational therapist with children with learning disabilities and emotional problems for many years. However, after attending my childbirth classes, coupled with a very positive experience giving birth to my son, Josh, I knew that I wanted to become a Childbirth Educator. I began my teaching career at St. Vincent’s Catholic Hospital and Medical Center in New York City, gave birth to my daughter, Amy four years later, and have not only taught classes and coordinated tours at this hospital, but also developed a private practice and this website for your perusal. To date, I have taught countless students, attended precious births as a birth doula, worked as a post-partum doula, and yet, I never tire, answering all my student’s questions, practicing various techniques and helping them gain confidence, remain flexible and make informed decisions as they begin their amazing journey towards becoming a family.
Since the beloved St. Vincent’s closed, I am pleased to announce that I have joined the Maternal/Child Health Department at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, as a Childbirth Educator, designing innovative programs and teaching classes to expectant parents.
As you begin your third trimester, as first-time parents, you will begin to explore the right childbirth preparation classes for you. When choosing a class, think about how you see yourself giving birth and exchange a dialogue with your doctor or midwife. They will give you their input and help you make a informed decision about the classes that they feel will significantly help you reach your goals.
I am humbled by the lovely words of my students and feel fortunate to have been their educator, counselor and at times, their birth doula and post-partum doula.
I would be delighted to share this magical time with you as you celebrate the miracle of life.
